Based in Hamble Point Marina on the doorstep of the Solent, Parker and Kay Sailmakers was founded by Peter Kay and John Parker in 1990 to design and produce sails for all boats ranging from championship winning 6meters to ocean racing Imoca 60 yachts. Over the course of 33years, the Hamble Loft has grown to produce sails for boats ranging from small dinghies , club cruiser/racer production yachts to the big grand prix ocean racers.
In 2012 sailmakers John Parker and Peter Kay announced a new partnership with the international sailmaking brand OneSails. The lofts at Suffolk Yacht Harbour and Hamble Point Marina both offer a full range of sailmaking services for yachts of all sizes, cruising, or racing, including new sails built using OneSails unique and patented 4T FORTE range that is exclusive to the Onesails lofts.
The OneSails group shares our passion for sailing and the sea. Respect for the environment keeps us focused on how we can continually improve the sustainability of our sails.
Our commitment to reducing the carbon footprint of our sails is centred on the materials and what happens to a sail at the end of its life. In 2015, OneSails launched 4T FORTE ™ sails and sail recycling process. Awarded ISO 14040 Life Cycle Assessment Certification, 4T FORTE ™ are the only fully recyclable sails on the market today.
Announcing this exciting development, Onesails GBR South and East stated: “Our partnership with OneSails keeps our business at the forefront of sailmaking technology and allows us to provide our customers, with leading edge products. Our core strategy remains unchanged, but the new direction allows us to pursue research into sail design and aerodynamic systems which will have a direct beneficial effect on the sails we supply all our clients.”
Since 2022 Nathan Steffenoni and Alistair (Wilf) Chaplin are running Onesails GBR South together with a core team of talented sail makers at Hamble point. They continue to provide the level of service that their customers have come to expect and are looking forward to offering an even wider range of products and services to their existing and future customers.
With the new changes to direction, the team at Onesails GBR South have now extended their service to include regatta assistance and cover making with the goal of providing a more complete service to our customers.

Having worked in the Marine industry since his early teens, Nathan matured a variety of talents in the marine industry with a strong focus on sail making and rigging. He has worked and raced on yachts ranging from maxis to small one design dinghies around the world and brings his knowledge, focus and experience to the forefront in developing new sail functions and systems to push the boundaries of sail making R&D and production.
Director and Designer
Wilf has been sailing and sail making for as long as he can remember. Having started out as a nipper at Ratsey way back when, he developed a career in Sail making and Design that started with a naval architecture course at Southampton University. Wilf now leads the design team navigating the complexities of aerodynamic performance and structural engineering from the simplest small Dacron crosscuts to the super maxi composite membrane sails.
