OneSails is proud to participate once again in the Vendée Globe, bringing a new generation of cutting-edge and sustainable sails to the race. Following the success of the 2020-2021 edition, OneSails is represented in this edition by Conrad Colman on MS Amlin and Arnaud Boissières on La Mie Caline, both equipped with the brand’s latest technologies. Colman, the New Zealand navigator, has chosen a full set of 4T Forte 525-R sails, designed to ensure high performance and minimal environmental impact, while Boissières, the French navigator, has opted for a FR0, an asymmetric fractional sail for downwind sailing built with the same technology.
OneSails’ 4T Forte membranes, leveraging MMS technology, ensure exceptional durability and performance, remaining the only fully recyclable membranes worldwide, manufactured through a low CO2 impact process. These innovative materials represent a significant evolution in sail technology, combining high performance with tangible sustainability.
At the start of the 2024 Vendée Globe, OneSails unveiled the latest version of its 4T membrane, refined in every detail. Abrasion resistance has been enhanced thanks to a multidirectional filament construction, while the primary structure has been optimized to provide even greater shape retention capability..
This new version retains all the key features of the current 4T line, including 3D construction in a single piece and a composite membrane obtained through vacuum infusion, without films or adhesives, for lighter and more durable sails. The STR fiber, from the UHMWPE family, provides high strength with a reduced carbon footprint. Each sail integrates batten pockets, reinforcements, UV protection strips and foam luff systems, ensuring consistent high performance.
“I made the choice to work with OneSails for personal reasons initially, and this led me to discover how they are technically superior to all other technologies on the market, and also that they are the only sailmaking company in the world with ISO certified technology for the lower carbon footprint-” said Conrad Colman, skipper on MS Amlin.
OneSails renews its commitment to ocean racing and the IMOCA 60 class, consolidating its reputation as a reliable partner for sailors seeking a blend of advanced technology and sustainability. The seamless performance of Medallia and Stark in the last Vendée Globe confirms the quality of OneSails’ solutions. Additionally, Offshore Team Germany’s victory in the Ocean Race Europe further demonstrates the high performances of the 4T membrane, making it a winning choice for these major ocean racing events.
